I'm back to the topic of things that go bump in the night. I am not crazy. I must put this disclaimer out there right now!
Every so often I am just doin' my daily thing around the house and out of NO WHERE I just become aware of something that is either different or aware of just something I cannot get my finger on. The past couple of days have been like this for me.
I got home from work on Tuesday night around 7:30. The house is completely dark and the first thing I do when I come inside, is to turn on the laundry room light and let the dog out. I got my coat off and turned on the living room lights and flipped on the TV for some noise and let the dog back in. I filled his food dish and shut all of the lights back off, grabbed a salad and plopped on the couch. Buddy suddenly just bursts into the living room (he's blind and deaf) and comes right up to me and just seems really excitable over something. He sniffed around my feet until he finally did sit down, but he kept getting up and just seemed really out of sorts.
Didn't think too much about it since he is so old - but I was sort of keeping my eye on him. I went back out in the kitchen and much to my surprise the lamp is on in the entry way. This is a lamp I only ever have on if we have company in the evening. I never turn that thing on when I am alone. But it was ON. And on the dimmest setting. You have to click it over three times to get to that particular light level. I had not touched it. About the same time I realize Buddy is right behind me kinda looking around - even though he can only see shadows really - or so I think. Weird.
This morning - I set the child gate up in the living room door so that he would not go in the living room while I was in the shower. He can get "lost" in there and I have found him trapped between the wall and the couch on a couple occasions. Just as I was turning the water on upstairs I heard the bang of the gate hitting the kitchen floor and it kept banging like he was all caught up in it. I quickly shut the water off and ran downstairs, afraid he had his leg caught. The gate was on the floor alright, but Buddy was fast asleep in his bed in the laundry room.
Not sure what to make of this yet. I'm sure in a couple hours I will have thought of several logical explanations. But, for now, darkness has me a little on edge tonight. I don't like that feeling.

Creepy... what is the history of your house. Someone must be unhappy right now. Lets get Melinda Gordon from Ghost Whisperer over to run them out and get their story. Seriously though... my dog senses these things sometimes too and it freaks me out - especially when I am alone.
The house is an old one. I did have a few odd things happen not long after we moved here in 1995.
But as a rule, I feel like a pea in a pod here! So - I have convinced myself (on the surface anyway) its a bad lamp and cheap gate! LOL
I think we need to have an old fashioned girl slumber party and get all giddy and freaked out at your house! Let's just not freeze anyone's bras.
Oh God... I remember those days... frozen bras, underwear, and hands in water. No wonder no one wanted to sleep.
