Weekend stuff!

What a great Monday! Weather is fabulous in this little corner of the world today! I managed to read a few chapters outside in the sun this afternoon. It is so peaceful. The only sound was the wind, a few song birds that I believe are just arriving.... and then the yowl of the two cats fighting at my feet. I guess they were playing - but you would not know that by listening.

Had a great time Friday in Waterloo. Spent some time with my ole' chum, Janice! I got to her house early afternoon, had a brief tour of her lovely home and then off to Panera for some coffee and great conversation. I have now been introduced to a Frozen Mocha Latte. When it comes to coffee and coffee related drinks - I have been living under a rock. So, this is a whole new world opening up to me! Anyway, that couple of hours FLEW by and I can't wait to get down that way again. I am excited about renewing this friendship!

Before leaving town early Saturday morning we had breakfast at the Waffle Stop. Wow, that was fabulous. I think I can safely say it was THE best omelet I have ever had. I love it that you can sit in a booth and just stare into the food prep area and watch the entire process. What a talent these cooks/chefs really possess. They make a pretty tedious task of breakfast for the masses look like a carefully constructed dance. I could watch that all day long.

Oh - back up. The bonfire Friday night. Nothing really to report - out of the ordinary that is. Except for the one guy that kept stirring the fire. This sent ash and red hot embers into the air that eventually landed on everyone's hair and clothing. He just didn't get it. I was out there for for 5 minutes and said, "Carl, leave the fire alone!" He just laughed and stuck that stupid shovel in again. I was amazed that after the 32nd beer he just didn't fall in there himself considering his balance was severely challenged - but I guess that was not to be. Needless to say, I spent most of the night in the house and on the porch with the rest of the people with ashy hair and holes burned in their jackets. What doorknob that guy was.

Well, I am realizing as this post unfolds that I don't have much of anything else. I like having Monday's off. It is a great day to pick up around the house from the weekend, get laundry done and get charged for the rest of the week. I really have enjoyed the day.

Was your friend Janice the sister of "He had not identifying characteristics"? If so, tell her hi for me when next you meet with her for coffee!

Yes she is one and the same! I spent this past Saturday with her, too! I will blog about that visit!

We talked about your blog a little bit while we chatted over coffee! That little blog tool is a fun way to keep connected (and re-connected!)
