Notes from the weekend!

The 25th DHS class reunion was a smashing success as expected! I had a great time and enjoyed seeing everyone again. I think we have a unique bunch in that seeing each other after all this time is like - well not missing a beat. I am thankful to be a part of such a great group of people. I have great high school memories and I was never more aware of that than I was Saturday night.

I find myself taking a more reflective look at the weekend, likely because of my day on Sunday. My nephew and Godson, was confirmed on Sunday and we were honored to be part of the church ceremony, supporting him at the altar as he was confirmed. I have not been that moved by my time in church since the conference I attended last year with my chum, Janice. I can't explain it - but something about it was very powerful and uplifting.

I am so proud of our nephew and the young man he has become. He is a respectable, thoughtful and talented young man that will without a doubt succeed beyond measure in whatever he does in life. I adored spending the rest of the day at my brothers house with extended family and visiting and watching football all afternoon. (GO PACK!)

All that said, I had so many reminders over the weekend about how many great and precious people I have in my life - from the days gone by to my family and friends now. I am so thankful to be here living this life and feel like I am so blessed and so fortunate.

I think any time we can step back from relatively casual events and pull a deeper sense of meaning from them, we have conquered a tiny sense about life we all struggle to understand at one time or another.

On a lighter note, I am seriously considering burning the boots I wore Saturday night. My feet hurt so bad from wiping up the dance floor all night and trying to get them into a tiny pair of sandals on Sunday was excruciating. I think I will save these for the winter camp out in a couple of months and have a foot cleansing and burn them on the bon fire. I plan to take my feet out of them prior to, however.

I saw the photos from your reunion-thanks to Michael- looks like enough fun that I should have tried to pass for a Decorah alum.
