Happy Birthday, Dad.

No matter how much time passes since their death, I still remember my parents' birthdays every year. Today is my dad's. Despite the fact my father had his fair share of problems in his life, one thing that always stands out when I remember him is his sense of humor.

He was one of the funniest people I knew growing up and I loved to hear him tell jokes to his friends. He had an infectious laugh with a bouncing belly that just made you laugh. He was a hard worker all of his life and he was adored us kids.

My earliest awareness of "Ground Hog's Day" was my dad [his birthday remember!] going outside first thing in the morning to see if he could see his shadow! It was a few years before I figured out Ground Hog's Day really had nothing to do with my dad seeing his shadow. It was also about that time it occurred to me how really funny that was!

So, Happy Birthday Dad!

A very nice tribute to your dad. It's good to remember.
Now we know where you get your warmth and humor. As I recall, your mom had a great sense of humor too.

Lovely tribute to your dad. I lossed my dad 11 years ago on 1/25 and I miss him terribly everyday. I thought with each year it would get easier but it doesn't. But I have great memories of him that I will carry with me forever and one day we will be together again.
