The blur.

This past week has been a blur. Mark's mother passed away Thursday, April 16, 3 days after her 75th birthday.

I don't have to elaborate on what our week held - the traditional funeral related items to get accomplished. Today we actually woke up and realized we did not have to get ready and go somewhere. That was kind of a welcome relief.

Yesterday we got everyone rounded up and went on an old car cruise. Our attempt at doing something together before everyone goes home today and tomorrow. Mark has 3 old cars and my brother n law has an old convertible. So, we divided up all the people among all the cars and we hit the road! We left at 2:00 yesterday and we drove back in the driveway at 11:00 p.m.! A good time was had by all and the weather was fabulous!

I must tell a funny story from the week! Mark grew up in the house that is right next to a funeral home. They were life long neighbors and friends with the family who runs the funeral home. Mark's father (and now mother) had funeral arrangements and visitation here. At the end of their sidewalk (of the funeral home), 2 lamp posts sit on either side, each with an eagle (about 6 inches tall) on top of each lamp.

When Mark was 8 years old, he shimmied up that lamp pole and unscrewed one of the eagles! He hid it in a random box in his room - he never got caught and never gave it back!

He has had it all of these years. After his mother died, he happened to find it again looking for pictures and decided it was time to return the eagle to its rightful home (and just before the funeral on Tuesday). As we made our way down the sidewalk toward the lamp post, he looked around and then quickly reached up and screwed the eagle back onto its original roost. Nobody saw us and now the lamps are twins again!

I thought Mark should have told somebody at the home that he did this. I know if I ran a business of that nature and noticed this eagle suddenly appear back on its roost after 32 years - I might start questioning my faculties and maybe even start to look over my shoulder once in awhile! Funny!

Anyway - here is a pic of Mark and his Firebird from yesterday and in the other you can kind of see the Chevy and the convertible. I should have taken more -
